Sunday 23rd - Dingo Point /Airlie Beach

We headed towards Airlie Beach today, the countryside has changed since leaving Cairns and becoming dryer as we move further south, even though we are close to the coast it is very dry.

There are a lot of vegetables grown in the area. This was a tomato crop.

We also stopped at a beach that is a turtle breeding area.

We found where we were staying at Dingo Beach and setup camp before heading into Airlie Beach, Cam missed the turnoff so we met him in there. It is a very touristy place with a lot of pubs, backpacker hostels and shops. It has a swimming lagoon behind the shops which was frequented by many backpackers. Cam has decided to stay in town, more nightlife for the young ones.

It was then off to Shute Harbour where the tourist boats leave from, not much else there.

When we got back to camp we where visited by some locals. (Wallabies)

Tomorrow we head into Proserpine  for a look around, I also have to go to the local Toyota dealer as my fuel filter warning light is on and get the filter replaced. We will then probably head back over to Airlie Beach for a swim in the Lagoon and some lunch, it will depend on how long it takes to get the car fixed.
