Tuesday 18th - Low Isles Reef Cruise

Today we spent the day out on the reef aboard Quicksilvers Wavedancer catermaran. The trip left from the Port Douglas marina.

Low Isles is situated 15km North-East of Port Douglas and is a 4 acre coral cay surrounded by 55 acres of  reef. These two small islands are separate island on one common reef. The smaller island is a coral cay and was once home for keepers of its historic lighthouse built in 1878. In 1770 Captain Cook described Low Isles as a small low island and was officially called Low Isles in 1819.

A great day was had by everyone, tour was great and there was plenty of food and beer.

We went into town for tea and ended up at the Cane Toad Races at the Ironhorse Inn, it was great fun.
